Mini-pilot testing is often a good intermediate step between bench scale and pilot testing. Mini-pilot testing, generally performed at flowrates between 10-1000 mL/min, can provide much of the information gained at the pilot scale (i.e., solution recycling, cycle studies, and bulk material processing) at a fraction of the cost, because the equipment is still relatively small and the testing can be performed in a laboratory setting.
